About

Beta Alpha Psi is an international honorary organization for financial information students and professionals. It was founded at the University of Illinois on February 12, 1919. LSU’s Phi Chapter was founded in 1939 and is the 21st oldest chapter in the country. As of January 2011, there are 289 chapters around the world.

The primary objective of the organization is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the financial information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance, and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development and association among members and practicing professionals, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.

These goals are achieved through lectures, programs, office visits, campus and community activities, and other contacts with professionals from the business community.

The Phi chapter has achieved the award of Superior Chapter for the past six years, including the current 2011-2012 academic year.  In addition to Superior chapter status, we will be working toward attaining the award of Gold Chapter in 2012.
